A Slice of Italy

Be Our Guest

Italian Apartment Rental

Have you ever dreamed of spending time in Italy and living like a local, beyond the hustle and bustle of the typical tourist spots? Waking up in your own self-catering apartment where you can choose which meals to cook for yourselves and which ones to go out for? Where you can make friends with the fruit and veg sellers in the weekly mercato, and buy fresh pasta every day? Where you’ll see familiar faces every evening, as you partake of the traditional passeggiata on your way to a relaxing spritz or a new flavor of gelato?

Well, to that I say . . . Be. My. Guest.

Over the years, my husband and I (mad people that we are) have bought apartments in two of the loveliest small cities in all of Italy: Sulmona, in the heart of the Abruzzo region, and Lecce in Puglia, known as “The Florence of the South.” Here’s a little bit about each one.

Casa Linda 3 Sulmona, Italy Vacation Rental

Casa Linda 3 Apartment Rental Sumona, Italy

Sulmona, Abruzzo, Italy

1 BEDROOM, 1 BATHROOM

This city of about 25,000 residents (and about 2,000 ex-pats these days) sits in the largely undiscovered region of Abruzzo, in south-central Italy. Just two hours from Rome by car (a bit longer by bus or train) it maintains many of its old traditions and smacks of authenticity, whatever that is. Twice weekly mercati on the main piazza (P. Garibaldi) bring all manner of foodstuffs, housewares, and clothing straight to you and give you a chance to shop and mingle with the locals. The many restaurants and bars in town practically eliminate the need to ever cook for yourself, but you’ll certainly be able to in this flat.

This is Casa Linda 3. Our unit is on the piano terra, our friends’ unit is on the piano nobile, and the rental unit spans the top two floors. The first floor of the unit offers a big, new primary matrimoniale bedroom with lots of storage space; a bathroom with shower, sink, toilet and bidet; and a well-appointed but small kitchen with seating for 4. Upstairs in the soggiorno is a double sofa bed and a sleeper chair, which are great for guests and/or children. There’s a garden room with bar fridge and two small terraces from which to enjoy the Maiella mountain views over an Aperol Spritz or morning coffee.

Way down in the heel of Italy’s boot, in the province of Puglia, is the Salento Peninsula. And the gem of the Peninsula is the stunning baroque city of Lecce. With 100,000 residents and a university, it is a small metropolitan hub whose beauty will simply take your breath away.

Our apartment, Casa dei Conti di Lecce, is a ground floor gem in a small historic building in the heart of Lecce with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and lots of closet space. The flat brings you just steps away from the Duomo, the Roman Theatre, and all other main tourist spots in this beautiful city. It is available for monthly rentals only.

It has been recently renovated and redecorated with great and refined taste and attention to detail: an architectural jewel designed to be elegant, comfortable, and feel like home. Modern luxurious furniture combined with elegant textiles and stone floors creates a charming atmosphere. As you first enter, you’ll instantly feel welcomed and embraced by the elegance of the ambiance.

The living area is spacious and airy feeling, equipped with an elegant table with space for four people, a comfortable sofa, and a stylish armchair that converts to a single bed if you need extra space.
